The view on Mont-Royal
Toilet not in the room. Hotel of the same price on Park Avenue has toilet in the bedroom. Also our stay was not confirmed, so when we got there they had no reservation. When they saw the booking confirmation, they made room, but still for a moment it looked like we were being shipped to a hotel 15 minutes away.

It was in the heart of the city, many cute restaurants, and the metro was across the street.
The entrance to the hotel was difficult to find and parking until we were told where the hotel parking was, was a big hassle. We were not given a receipt upon leaving. I was told Booked.net would issue a receipt. So we are not sure what we were actually charged.

Room was really comfortable and clean for the price, breakfast is nice and generous.
There is a really big issue with reception. Sorry to have to say that but even in the cheapest/filthy youth hostel there is always someone at the reception. At Hotel Stay Mont Royal, sometimes there is no one at the reception during hours and nobody answers the phone, again I feel this is not normal. We were there waiting for 2 hours with luggage before someone eventually opened the door to us... Another thing that was really embarrassing for us was management of overbooking... I understand that those kind of thinks happen, but the way the managed it was really poor... as said above, we waited during 2 hours with our luggage, before being told that there was an overbooking (we had booked a week earlier, so why not sending us an email to advise us earlier???) and then we had to go to the opposite side of the city in an other hotel where nobody was aware that Hotel Stay had made a reservation there for us... On the whole, reception and booking management would need improvement !

It was a very pleasant spot, in a convenient area. The room was quite comfortable, the breakfast included was adequate. The hotel manager on duty that day was wonderfully kind and helpful, especially with my husband who has a disability. He gave us suggestions as to a suitable restaurant within walking distance, warned us about moving our car from the hotel parking in the morning, because of traffic rules, helped us enormously with our suitcases, and was generally most accommodating. We would gladly recommend this hotel to friends and relations.
Only the stairs were difficult for my husband. Not a big problem.

Location and bang for buck. If you are looking for a cheap place to rest and will be out exploring the city most of the time, this an ok place for the money.
- The hotel emailed me months after my booking stating they had not received payment for my upcoming reservation....however they had and I had the proof on my credit card statement. I had my credit card company call the owner, who was beligerant and hung up on the credit card company. I called and they did resolve the issue, but it was very frustrating and I was worried that i would have issues when I arrived. However, everything went smoothly and the staff were pleasant enough. - When I arrived, they gave me my room and I unpacked and settled in. Half an hour later one of the employee barged into my locked room (he had a key) and stated that they had given me the wrong room and that I had to move. Mistakes happen, so I repacked and moved rooms. Only to find that it was the exact same room (i.e. double bed, fridge, etc) except with a lot smaller tv. I am not sure why they didnt just give this second room to whoever was yet to check in. BIZARRE. - Carpets are stained - Shared bathroom and showers were not the cleanest. - Bed was relatively comfy, but there was a lack of bedding to stay warm with. They give you a very thin comforter, NOT a duvet as they describe) and the pillows were pancakes. - Breakfast was very skint. I chose to eat at Cafe Noir each morning, which is situated directly under the hotel.

It was awesome for the amount of money we paid. Shower and toilet are shared, and the shower is separate from the toilet, and the sink is in the room. So this arrangement was a little strange at first, but we never had to wait for anyone for the showers or toilets and everything was very clean. The location is excellent, it is basically 15 steps from the Mont Royale metro station, and it is very clean.

The breakfast is free and well prepared.
Toilets are outside the room. The rooms are too cold and there is no way to adjust the heat in the room. The rooms are very small and uncomfort
